A permanent residence certificate (PRC) is a legal essential document that proves a person who is a permanent resident of a city or village. It is valid for lifetime, unless the person moves to another state. A PRC holder can use his/her certificate for getting admission to educational institutions, it can also be useful for government jobs application, state scholarship applications, etc. A permanent Residence Certificate is issued by the Deputy Commissioner of the respective district under the Government of Assam.

1. Mandatory Documents:
One copy of Recent Passport Size Photograph
Birth Certificate
HSLC/Matriculation Certificate or Admit Card
Address proof documents of Self or Parent’s (Voters Card/Aadhaar Card/Ration Card/Electricity Bill/LPG Bill/Passport/Bank Passbook/Driving License)
Records of Immovable Property (if any), with up-to-date Land Revenue Paid Receipt (E-Khajana Receipt)
Certified copy of the voters list to check the linkage
Documents related to parents and forefathers having continuously resided in Assam for a minimum period of 50 years or Documents related to guardian having continuously resided in Assam for a minimum period of 20 years.

Eligibility Criteria for Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) Application in Assam
Applicants must be a Permanent Resident of Assam.

Parents or Grandparents having continuously resided in Assam for Minimum 50 Years and guardians having continuously resided in Assam for a minimum period of 20 years.
