
A caste certificate is a legal document that proves a person’s caste or community. It is an essential document for people who belong to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
List of Documents Required for Issuance of Caste Certificate Online |
1. Mandatory Documents:
- One copy of Passport Size Photograph
- Date of Birth proof of the Applicant (Birth Certificate/Aadhaar Card/PAN/HSLC Admit Card issued by any recognized Board)
- Address/Residence Proof of Applicant or Parent (Permanent Resident Certificate/Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/Land Document/Electricity Bill, Ration Card)
- Caste Certificate of Father or Recommendation Letter of authorized caste/tribe/community organization notified by Assam State Government
- Scanned Copy of Application Form (filled up)
2. Optional Documents:
- Any other document like Parent’s or Self Voter List, Affidavit (if any)
- Existing Caste Certificate (if available)
Note:
✔ The applicant who is applying for Caste Certificate should fill up the form by themselves.
✔ If the applicant wants to submit Birth Certificate as Age or Date of Birth Proof then the Birth Certificate should be in Digital Form, handwritten Birth Certificates are not accepted.
✔ The Recommendation Letter is issued by Gaon Bura in village areas and by the present ward commissioner in town and municipality areas.
✔ After the submission of caste certificate application, it usually takes 30 working days to get approved from the date of receipt of the application.

The applicant should go through the following steps for the Caste Certificate Application:
- The applicant can apply Caste Certificate online through Sewa Setu Portal of Assam Government.
- Caste Certificate can be applied through nearest Common Service Centers (CSC) anywhere in Assam.
- The applicant can visit the Deputy Commissioners (DC) Office of the particular district of Assam for offline application.
Caste Certificate Apply Online Assam step-by-step procedure:
- Visit the Official Website of the Assam Sewa Setu Portal.
- Click on Login/Register as Citizen.
- Create an account through e-pramaan authentication service if not registered.
- Now go to the home page and sign in with the credentials as per registration.
- Search for Issuance of Caste Certificate in the Search Bar.
- Click on the Apply button given on the Screen.
- Now fill-up the online form and upload documents as per requirement.
- After all the above process click on submit button and pay the application fee online through UPI, Debit Card, Net Banking, etc.
- After the successful submission of the form, take a printout of the Acknowledgement or save the page as PDF and note the Reference Number.
- Now you will receive an SMS regarding your Caste Certificate Application after submission.
